Paris Saint-Germain opens its first Academy in Hong Kong

Having recently set up in Thailand, Korea Republic, China (Shanghai) and Japan, the Paris Saint-Germain Academy is continuing its expansion in Asia with the opening of a new academy in Hong Kong, China.

The PSG Academy’s development in Asia since 2018 is a reflection of its commitment to offering the continent’s young footballers high-quality training programmes delivered by experienced coaches who have been trained by the club.

The new Paris Saint-Germain Academy in Hong Kong has been made possible by a partnership agreement signed with Dream Sport Academy (DSA). Since 2010, DSA has successfully developed a number of basketball and multi-sports academies in Hong Kong. This new partnership has the expertise and drive needed to make the PSG Academy the best football school in this corner of China, known as the Pearl of the Orient.

Nadia Benmokhtar, head of brand development Paris Saint-Germain, said: “The opening of this academy forms part of our ambitious development strategy in Asia. Hong Kong is now a global economic force and we are aware of the impact Paris Saint-Germain can have there. We are convinced we have found the right partner to make this project a huge success, with nearly a thousand young players expected to sign up in the first year.

The Paris Saint-Germain Academy aims to develop around ten Paris Saint-Germain football schools across Hong Kong, all with the aim of sharing the Parisian club’s training philosophy and methodology with young players.

To reach that objective, the project will draw on quality coaches and first-rate facilities. Coaches recruited in France will travel to Hong Kong to share their passion and expertise in targeting excellence.

The PSG Academy will set up at leading schools and colleges in the region such as Singapore International School (SISHK), Christian Alliance International School (CAIS), Malvern College, Discovery Bay International School (DBIS) and YMCA of Hong Kong Christian College (YHKCC), allowing the PSG Academy Hong Kong to get up and running straightaway in the best possible surroundings.

Before launching its annual programmes in late summer 2023, the PSG Academy Hong Kong will open its doors this summer for a series of football camps. Residential camps will also be held in Macao.

Yannick Ngassa, founder and CEO Dream Sport Academy, said: “As a former professional sportsperson, I’ve always been committed to offering young athletes the best possible training. I’m very proud to be entering into this partnership with Paris Saint-Germain, a world leader in the development of young players. I’ve no doubt the project will be a genuine success and that we will scale the heights together.
