Paris Saint-Germain in Europe’s Top 3 revenue-generating clubs for the second season in a row
With a record-breaking revenue of €806m, Paris Saint-Germain strengthens its position within Europe’s economic elite, according to two independent reports.
By breaking its season revenue record for the third time in a row, Paris Saint-Germain has secured third place among Europe’s top revenue-generating football clubs, according to Deloitte’s Football Money League report released on Thursday. The previous day, The European Champions report from Football Benchmark had already confirmed PSG’s third place ranking among domestic-league winners.
Record-Breaking Revenues and Unmatched Growth Since QSI’s Involvement
During the 2023/2024 season, the club generated a total revenue of €806m, surpassing its previous record of €802m from the 2022/2023 season. This continues PSG’s consistent growth since the 2016/2017 season (excluding the COVID-19 period). This second consecutive podium finish confirms PSG's place in the European top five for the third season in a row since the end of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Victoriano Melero, CEO of Paris Saint-Germain, said: "We are extremely proud that the tremendous efforts of all our club's employees are being recognized by these two reports. Since QSI's strategic plan was implemented in 2011, PSG has established itself as a key player in football’s financial elite. Our economic performance is crucial for sustaining an ambitious and durable sports project. We will continue on this path in the upcoming seasons."
Valued at over €4.25 billion following Arctos Partners’ equity investment in December 2023, PSG has the highest revenue growth among Europe's elite clubs since the 2010/2011 season (an 8.5-fold increase).
PSG: The Club Maximizing Matchday Revenue
Over the past decade, PSG has developed expertise in revenue generation, consistently ranking in the European top five across various revenue categories.
Both the Football Money League and The European Champions reports highlight PSG as the club that optimizes its matchday revenue the most. Achieving an unprecedented €170 million in 2023/2024, PSG has seen an 83% increase since the first European Champions report in 2017 and a seven-fold increase since 2011, despite having a smaller stadium capacity (48,000 seats) compared to most of its European competitors.
Simultaneously, the club's commercial revenue grew significantly to reach €391.2 million, placing PSG among the top five clubs in commercial revenue. This ranking is comparable to its TV rights revenue (€245 million), despite limited domestic rights.
The European Champions report also highlights PSG’s continued reduction in losses (from €109.8m in 2022/2023 to €60m in 2023/2024). This progress reflects a steady path toward financial equilibrium following a strategic investment plan to recover from the COVID-19 crisis.
Women's Team: A Solid Spot in the Top 10
The Paris Saint-Germain women's team has maintained its position among the top 10 revenue-generating women’s football teams since Deloitte Football Money League began publishing this ranking. For the 2023/2024 season, the team generated over €4.6M, marking a 25% year-over-year increase (€3.7M for the 2022/2023 season).
