New PSG Academy opens in Vancouver

This month, the Paris Saint-Germain Academy opens two new sites in Vancouver and Langley, in British Columbia. This return to Canada after three years of absence marks the renewal of the development of a network of Parisian football schools in North America.

Every year, PSG Academy USA trains 2000 young people aged 4 to 18, in Florida, California, Texas, Arizona, Pennsylvania and British Columbia. Other sites will come to strengthen this network before the end of the year.

According to Ravy Truchot, President of PSG Academy in North America: «After having been delayed by COVID, PSG Academy USA renews its growth in North America. Canada is a priority for us. As a country, it is opening itself up to football and Paris Saint-Germain is becoming increasingly popular. We are delighted to start our Canadian adventure in British Columbia. We have recruited the best coaches and our team will enjoy top grade infrastructure to offer aspiring footballers the best conditions to learn and live their Red & Blue passion in an entertaining and inspiring environment».

PSG Academy in British Columbia was welcomed with great success from the opening of its first holiday camps in March. Led by the experience of Rem Dinga, its director, the Academy now offers classes for girls and boys from April to June, which can be recreational or competitive. Summer camps will start from July, for instance within the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Village in Whistler, for U13 to U16 categories. These camps will be the opportunity to evaluate and train young players before they join the Academy for the 2022/2023 season.

«I am very happy to be a part of the big PSG family. Our team was formed and has worked over many months for the opening of the Vancouver Academy. We are proud and thrilled to share our passion and the methodology developed within the Paris Saint-Germain training centre to offer top level sessions to young Canadians», declared Rem Dinga.

From 2023, PSG Academy will extend its programmes to many areas around Greater Vancouver, including West Vancouver, Richmond and Surrey. To continue its growth, the Academy also wishes to develop a female team from a young age, and work on partnerships with French-speaking institutions around the region.

PROGRAMMES CURRENTLY OFFERED BY THE ACADEMY

· A REC programme with training once a week, open to girls and boys aged 6 to 12 of all levels, so that each child can benefit from PSG’s methods.

· A competitive programme with two to three trainings per week and games on the weekend. This programme is advanced and open to girls and boys from U6 to U16. Each player must go through a tryout to be selected onto a team.
