SCENARIO
After an invigorating 4-2 win over Atlético de Madrid on the last Matchday, Paris Saint-Germain's Youth League team were keen to build on their success and move even higher up the table. Bayern, for their part, had gone two games without a win, losing at Barcelona and drawing with Benfica. It was a massive game for both teams.
And it was the Parisians who took the lead thanks to Ibrahim Mbaye, who broke through the opposition defence and checked back twice before beating the Bavarian keeper to give his side an early lead (0-1, 8'). It started well, and then it got better, as the Rouge et Bleu broke through again. Although Sangaré wasn't able to pick up on a great through ball by just a few centimetres (34'), he wasted no time in winning his one-on-one duel a few seconds later, when he received a perfect pass from Mbaye. Sangaré then took off alone on a lightning-fast counter-attack and slammed the ball past Klanac with the inside of his foot (0-2, 36').
Just before the break, the Bavarians were reduced to ten men after Scholl was sent off for holding back Khafi, who was alone and through on goal (45'). After the straight red card, the Parisians had the numerical advantage going into the second half.
The Mbaye-Sangaré duo struck again after the break. The former broke through and found the latter in the middle, who finished alone in front of goal to increase the Titi's margin again (0-3, 47').
The double scorer then repaid the favour to Mbaye by cleverly shifting the ball behind him. The French U18 international finished well from a tight angle to complete his brace (0-4, 64'). The battle between the evening's two scorers was fierce, with Sangaré grabbing a hat-trick when Diaby played him in behind. He finished adeptoy for Paris‘ fifth goal of the match (0-5, 70’).
Nesrawe reduced the deficit from the penalty spot (1-5, 78'), then in the same minute Aznou found the top corner of James' net (2-5, 78'), and despite another scare in the dying moments, the score stayed the same. The Parisians have now won for the second time in a row, and in style in Bavaria. All the ingredients for a springtime in Europe!
