Costa Rica fan club pay Paris a visit

The official Paris Saint-Germain fan club of Costa Rica made a pilgrimage to the Parc des Princes to watch their beloved side take on Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League, we joined them for the experience.

For Paris Saint-Germain's European crunch match in Group C, the official Fan Club of Costa Rica made the 5,500 mile trip to watch their side play at the Parc des Princes. Whilst the stadium was being prepared to welcome 46,880 spectators that evening, the fans from Central America were given a private tour of the stadium and spoke to us about their love for the club and the inspiration for their visit:

"We never expected to come here...getting to see a stadium like this is a childhood dream come true!" explained Daniel Calvo, fan club president.

"It's a special night, it's a Champions League game, and i think that's what it means for us, that it's Paris, we know the phrase "Paris is magic", and really that's what we're all about: the magic that's here and what we're going to experience today".

The fans who founded their club in 2015 are part of a growing global Paris Saint-Germain fan base. At present the club has 89 fan clubs in 63 different countries, 83 of them outside of France. In cities around the world, Paris fans are renowned for their passion and dedication to following the Rouge et Bleu, whether it's getting together to watch games in large numbers in bars and public spaces, or travelling huge distances to watch the club in Europe.

Since January 2016, Paris Saint-Germain have created 68 new fan clubs worldwide and the number continues to grow, as our supporters from across the Atlantic explained, there has never been a better time to join a club and meet other Rouge et Bleu supporters;

"If you asked us what's the image of the club in Costa Rica, I think there's envy, and I believe also that it's the same all around the world...because is what PSG is doing on the field, making history!"
