Yang Lina: 'I'll give the best of myself'

Paris Saint-Germain women's team's new recruit told us about her feelings and ambitions now that she's joined the Club.

Lina, how do you feel now that you're a Paris Saint-Germain player?

I'd firstly like to thank Paris Saint-Germain and the staff for giving me this chance to join such a big club. There are a lot of players in this team who come from different national teams right around the world. I think I can train and play with them to improve my level and go beyond my limits. It's also another step for me. I'm going to try and contribute to the team and prove myself. I always want to improve. I'm also preparing myself for the World Cup next year.

You're the tenth Chinese player to move abroad. Are you in contact with the others?

Yes, of course, we're in contact with each other. If you leave to go abroad on your own, it's perhaps more difficult. We give each other our news. It's perhaps with Tang Jiali who I'm in contact with most along with Yang Shuhui and Zhao Yujie. We were all together in Shanghai. We've been playing together for years. They're more experienced than me, they can give me advice. I hope they'll do well with their clubs.

What's the image of Paris Saint-Germain in China?

It's that of a club that's renowned for its quality. The culture and history of the club are recognised by everyone in China. It's a real honour for me to join this club. A number of my favourite players play here.

Former Parisian Wang Shuang and Li Mengwen have said learning French is a challenge for them. How will you approach it?

It'll be a challenge for me too. It's a different experience. My English still isn't very good. I'm going to do my best to communicate with my teammates here in English, but I'm also going to try and learn French, because everyone in France speaks French. I'm going to focus to learn the language well.

What are your objectives for this first season in Rouge et Bleu?

The most important thing is to settle in quickly, build bonds with my teammates and keep improving a little bit more every day. I'm going to give the best of myself.
