Women's team win big at Metz
Paris Saint-Germain's women's team scored a 6-1 win at Metz on Saturday in their second league game of the season.
It wasn't until after the interval that Paris Saint-Germain made the breakthrough in their opening away match of the 2019/20 campaign. Geyoro found Katoto just inside the area, she played in Diani, who fired past Lerond to open the scoring (0-1, 53'). The lead did not last long: former Parisian Pekel went down the left, burst into the penalty area and fired in a shot that was diverted home by Gordon (1-1, 59'). Paris did not take long to pick themselves up. Just a minute later, Morroni found Dudek on the left flank, and her cross was headed home by Katoto (1-2, 60').
That kicked Olivier Echouafni's players into top gear. Geyoro found Glas and she then picked out Diani inside the box - her shot was always going to find the top corner (1-3, 66'). That was her second of the game, and when she headed in Däbritz's cross, she had a hat-trick (1-4, 74'). The France international even claimed a fourth for herself after a scramble inside the Metz box (1-5, 90+2') before Däbritz got the final touch to a Huitema cross to set the seal on an emphatic win (1-6, 90+4'). It was a goal that was more than a footnote as it took the capital club top of the table on goal difference from Lyon, who beat Reims 8-3 at the same time.
A friendly with AS Roma now awaits the team before they head into their UEFA Champions League Last 32 tie with Braga. The first leg is on 12 September at 21:00CEST at the Estadio Municipal in Braga. Dijon will then be the visitors to the capital on 15 September to complete a busy week.
