The women's team impressive in defeat

Paris Saint-Germain were beaten by Manchester United in the semi-finals of the pre-season AMOS Women's French Cup (0-1) in Toulouse.

Under new coach Gérard Prêcheur, our Rouge et Bleu opened the pre-season tournament against Manchester United with the tactician lining up his side in a 4-2-3-1 with Ngueleu supported by the trio of Jean-François, Bachmann and Benera.

Though it was not a competitive game, there was still plenty to play for. The Parisians showed a willingness to play on the front foot and press their opponents, while also building up the fitness that will be so crucial in the season to come.

Always a threat up front, Soufiya Ngueleu's pace in behind the opposing defence raised pulses (8', 12'). Ashley Lawrence and Paulina Dudek also made important interventions at the back (23', 33'), while at the other end of the pitch Elisa De Almeida (39') and Ngueleu (42') created opportunities.

Paris maintained their high rhythm after the break. De Almeida out wide created danger while there was also a long-distance effort from Oriane Jean-François (51'). Estelle Cascarino (55') and Marina Georgieva - whose header struck the crossbar (70') - also went close.

United's Katie Zelem was the only one to find the net, however, (0-1, 66'), to leave the Parisians frustrated.

Even the late introduction of Sandy Baltimore could not change the scoreline, as the Parisians were left with a promising performance ahead of Friday's meeting with Barcelona.
