The Parisians take down Bordeaux!

The Paris Saint-Germain women's team defeated Bordeaux in the 11th matchday of the D1 Arkema (1-0). Here's a look back at the match!

After their convincing 6-0 win in Kharkiv in the UEFA Women's Champions League, Paris Saint-Germain returned to domestic action when they took on Bordeaux in Clairefontainte. Didier Ollé-Nicolle fielded a 4-3-3 formation with a trio of Diani, Katoto and Bachmann up front.

The first half was a tight tactical battle. Against a solid Girondins side, the Parisians had to be patient and creative in order to break through a very strong defence. Kadidiatou Diani (6') and Sara Däbritz (11') gave the Bordeaux defence a few scares at the start of the match. But the Rouge et Bleu also had to remain alert at the other end of the pitch, on counter-attacking situations, like the dangerous Katja Snoeijs (27', 38'). Despite a final slalom from Ramona Bachmann, the game was still tied at the break.

It was after the break that the lines were stretched. Kadidiatou Diani's acceleration, Marie-Antoinette Katoto's hold-up play (38'), and good use of the flanks, Didier Ollé-Nicolle's players relied on their preferred attacks to break the deadlock. A new game then began! Katoto's overhead kick hit the top of the crossbar after an excellent run by the tireless Diani (47'). The chances came thick and fast: Khelifi (49'), Bachmann (50', 55'), Ilestedt (56', 61'), Katoto (57', 64') had the opportunity to open the score during a strong spell
.
And this tenacity paid off, just like Didier Ollé-Nicolle's coaching! Having just come on, the lively Sandy Baltimore took part in a superb team move to set up Sakina Karchaoui, whose left-footed cross-shot hit the back of the net (1-0, 68').

A precious advantage that the Rouge et Bleu managed to keep intact until the final whistle. Despite several opportunities for a second (78', 88'), the score remained the same.

After a solid performance, the Parisians continue their momentum in this French championship. They will face Iceland's Breidablik on Thursday in the UEFA Women's Champions League to round off a successful 2021...
