The Parisians put on a show to win their 3rd Coupe de France

The Paris Saint-Germain women's team lifted the Coupe de France after beating Yzeure Allier Auvergne in the final, on Sunday May 15 at the Stade Gaston Gérard in Dijon (8-0).

This Sunday, Paris Saint-Germain women's team had a new line to write in its history, with the final of the Coupe de France against Yzeure, at the Stade Gaston-Gérard. For this match, Didier Ollé-Nicolle went for a 4-3-3 formation with the trio Diani-Katoto-Bachmann up front, in front of a midfield centred around captain Grace Geyoro.

Our Parisians had a trap to avoid: the key to this final lay in their ability to maintain their concentration in order to defeat an opponent who plays at a lower level. It was exactly in this state of mind that the Rouge et Bleu approached this game. Mentally engaged and technically efficient, Didier Ollé-Nicolle's players had all the ingredients to showcase their class.

The start of the match quickly set the scene for a serene late afternoon under the bright Côte d'Or sun. The inevitable Marie-Antoinette Katoto took the game by the scruff of the neck to put Paris on the right track: two powerful and decisive headers from crosses from Ramona Bachmann and Sara Däbritz (0-1, 3'; 0-2, 7'). In fact, this was one of the features of our Parisians' performance on Sunday: excellent use of the flanks, with precise crosses and a strong presence in the air - including from set-pieces.

This was the manner in which Paris Saint-Germain finished the game off. Paulina Dudek (0-3, 9') and Ashley Lawrence (0-4, 11') both scored from corners, before Sara Däbritz capped off an exceptional spell with another goal from a Kadidiatou Diani pass (0-5, 13'). With five goals at this stage of the game, the Parisians had managed to seal their victory in just 15 minutes! It was well deserved, as the pressure they applied seem unstoppable from start to finish.

It is clear that this late afternoon in Burgundy was going to be an enjoyable one. Between great collective sequences and individual flashes of brilliance, our Parisians were keen to keep their foot on the gas. The symbol of this determination was Marie-Antoinette Katoto, who was more than happy to add to her tally. The French international left her mark on this final by scoring a hat-trick, with another goal before the break (0-6, 31').

There was no let-up after the restart, with the Red and Blue not hesitating to put in a final push to round off the victory.  Already decisive during the first half, Ashley Lawrence and Sara Däbritz added two gems to the masterpiece - a splendid shot from the Canadian (0-7, 59') and then a classy technical sequence from the German (0-8, 73').

The Paris Saint-Germain women's team thus won the third Coupe de France in their history. In doing so, they broke their own record from 2010 by scoring the most goals in the history of the competition's finals. A new trophy in the display case of our women's team, before two final matches to close the year, against Lyon on 29 May, then Reims on 1 June. Mission accomplished. With brilliance.
