The Parisians put on a show - and win!

Paris Saint-Germain's women's team beat Montpellier HSC 4-1 in their D1 Arkema Round 9 clash at the Stade Georges Lefèvre on Sunday 26 November. Here's a look back at the match.

Three days after their narrow UEFA Women's Champions League defeat by FC Bayern Munich (0-1), the Parisians were already back on the pitch. This time, the Parisians were at home to Montpellier HSC in D1 Arkema Round 9, with the aim of getting back to winning ways in front of their home fans.

For this match, Jocelyn Prêcheur fielded a three-woman central defence consisting of Clare Hunt, Thiniba Samoura and Elisa De Almeida in front of 'keeper Katarzyna Kiedrzynek. On the flanks, Sakina Karchaoui played on the left, while Amalie Vangsgaard lined up on the right. In midfield, the Jackie Groenen/Grace Geyoro tandem supported Lieke Martens, positioned in the centre. Up front, Marie-Antoinette Katoto partnered Tabitha Chawinga.

And right from the start, Les Rouge et Bleu took the lead thanks to their two strikers: Tabitha Chawinga broke down the left and fed Marie-Antoinette Katoto, who headed home at the far post to open the scoring (1-0, 2'). The chances kept coming for the capital club, who scored two more goals that were disallowed for offside. In a first half full of chances, Montpellier also responded, forcing Katarzyna Kiedrzynek to save from a powerful Faustine Robert effort. And just after another Chawinga chance was palmed wide for a corner by goalkeeper Marie Petiteau, MHSC pulled a goal back through Robert, who converted her side's penalty (1-1, 26').

Paris then went in search of a second goal, but the Montpellier goalkeeper made another save from Katoto on the half-hour mark. Five minutes later, it was Sakina Karchaoui who failed to convert the penalty she herself had earned. But the Parisians never gave up, and their determination was rewarded when Chawinga did a good job with her back to goal and fed Grace Geyoro: the Parisian captain finished off the move with her right foot from close range (2-1, 42'). Paris thus regained the lead just before half-time and went into the break a goal to the good.

After a particularly intense first half, the second half was played at a slower pace. But Kiedrzynek was not to be deterred, and once again she was on hand to deny Robert a brace and preserve her side's lead. It was not until just after the hour-mark that Paris stepped it up once more: from a corner struck by Karchaoui, Katoto headed the ball to Amalie Vangsgaard, who scored Paris' third goal from six yards (3-1, 65').

After that, Jocelyn Prêcheur's side were content to control the game without being troubled by Montpellier, who were struggling to make an impact. But as the game drew to a close, the Hérault outfit made one last attempt to get back into the game, with Nerilia Mondésir's first-time effort beating Kiedrzynek in spectacular fashion! Next up, new signing Laurina Fazer set up Chawinga, who needed two votes to beat the Montpellier goalkeeper and complete her side's win (4-1, 90' +4).

At the end of a lively encounter, Paris Saint-Germain won 4-1 to record their sixth league victory of the season. Now it's back to the international duties for the Parisians, who return to D1 Arkema on Sunday 10 December. The capital club will be at the Stade Océane to take on the women's team from Le Havre AC, kick-off scheduled for 21:00.
