The Parisians knock out Le Mans and progress to the semi-finals

Match reports

Paris Saint-Germain's Women's team beat Le Mans in style to qualify for the semi-finals of the Coupe de France (4-0). Here's a look back at the match.

Having made a habit of heading west since the start of the Coupe de France, the Parisians were back at it again on Friday evening. After Angers and Nantes, our Rouge et Bleu travelled to Le Mans to continue their journey, just a few days after Luis Enrique's men qualified in the same place. Fabrice Abriel put together a reshuffled line-up with plenty of experience, with Paulina Dudek, Griedge Mbock and Grace Geyoro all starting.

Current holders of the trophy, Paris Saint-Germain were top of the bill when they travelled to Sarthe. The magic of the cup was once again at work in this quarter-final between our team and a side playing at a lower level. Le Mans had nothing to lose in front of their home fans. But our Parisians were prepared for the challenge, and they quickly took matters into their own hands to make things a little easier. We hope you didn't arrive late for kick-off because Paris broke the deadlock with their first attack. Jennifer Echegini received the ball at the end of a team move down the right and slotted home from close range (0-1, 3').

By being quick off the mark, Paris Saint-Germain set the scene for a comfortable evening. But this did not mean they took their foot off the gas. Precise in their use of the ball and making plenty of runs, Fabrice Abriel's players were committed to their way of playing throughout the game.

The waves continued to rain down on the Manceau goal. After another warning from Grace Geyoro (10'), Paris doubled their lead through Korbin Albert's shot across goal (0-2, 13'). The Parisians managed to maintain their lead until the break, and picked up where they left off in the second half. Already a threat on several occasions in the first half, Grace Geyoro got on the scoresheet with a perfect finish past the home keeper after a run through the middle (0-3, 54').

Then Romée Leuchter was on hand for the finishing touch! Having already provided two assists, the Dutch international found the net with a sublime shot from almost thirty metres out (0-4, 75'). A masterpiece. Focused on their task, the Parisians gave their hosts no chance and held on to their lead until the final whistle.

Paris Saint-Germain's Women's team have now booked their place in the semi-finals of the Coupe de France. It was a round perfectly negotiated by the defending champions, who continue their progress in this 2024-25 edition. Although they will have to wait until 15 February for the return of official competition, when they host Montpellier in the Arkema Première Ligue, the Rouge et Bleu will not lose their rhythm as they take on Braga in a friendly in Portugal on Tuesday.
