The Parisians are back on track

Gerard Prêcheur's team won 3-1 against Dijon at Stade Georges Lefèvre in Saint-Germain-en-Laye on the 5th matchday of D1 Arkema.

After a disappointing draw in Le Havre, Gérard Prêcheur and his team wanted to move forward with a new run of important matches, including the start of the UEFA Women's Champions League group stage next week with the visit of Chelsea at Stade Jean Bouin.

Everything started well for the Parisians who opened the score quickly through Lieke Mertens. The Dutch international volleyed into the top corner of the net after a header from Groenen (1-0, 3'). Paris was seemingly in control of the match, but Roth equalised for the visitors through a snap shot from an impossible angle (1-1, 18').

The Red and Blue were stung and started to attack the Burgundy goal, but Lichtfus was proving hard to beat, with three saves in quick succession from Li Mengwen and Karchaoui in particular (35'). But it wasn't long before Grace Geyoro got on the scoresheet once again, just before the break from a Karchaoui cross. The Parisian captain finished with a header in the box and Paris were back in front (2-1, 42').

The objective in the second half was to avoid a second consecutive draw. With numerous chances to score not taken, it looked as though they were not going to seal the win with a third goal... until the last moments of the game. Bachmann, who came on at the break, was sent free down the left and finished past the Belgian goalkeeper to make it 3-1 (90')

The Red and Blue are back on track, a good omen before the visit of Chelsea next Thursday at the Stade Jean Bouin for the start of the group stage of the UEFA Champions League.
