Ramona Bachmann: 'Paris will always be my home'

Paris Saint-Germain Women's Ramona Bachmann, who is preparing to leave the capital club, gave a final interview to PSG TV. The Swiss international, who spent almost four years with Les Rouge et Bleu, took the opportunity to reflect on her fondest memories of her time with the club.

RAMONA, IT'S ALMOST FOUR YEARS SINCE YOU JOINED PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN. CAN YOU TELL US WHAT YOUR FIRST IMPRESSIONS WERE WHEN YOU ARRIVED?

"First of all, I was very, very excited to be playing for such a big club, such a well-known club. I think what I remember most is that there was a lot of talent in the team. I saw that there was still a lot of potential to make the team more successful when I arrived four years ago. But the talent was already there to work with. So I was very enthusiastic about joining the team."

IN AUGUST, YOU PLAYED YOUR FIRST MATCH FOR THE CLUB AGAINST BORDEAUX IN THE COUPE DE FRANCE. WHAT MEMORIES DO YOU HAVE OF THE FIRST TIME YOU WORE THE SHIRT?

"It was a very special moment, obviously. Putting on that special shirt for the first time, walking out onto the pitch, playing and representing such a great club. Those are memories that will stay with me forever."

IN NOVEMBER, YOU SCORED YOUR FIRST GOAL FOR PARIS AGAINST ISSY. HOW DID THAT FEEL?

"It was a special moment too. I remember the goal I scored. It was special. You know, when you score your first goal for a club, you're always very, very proud. You want to help the team, and obviously, if you can do that by scoring a goal, it's important. It's something that means a lot."

AT THE END OF THE SEASON, YOU WON THE FIRST LEAGUE TITLE IN THE HISTORY OF THE CLUB. WE CAN IMAGINE THAT IT WAS AN EMOTIONAL MOMENT. CAN YOU TELL US WHAT THAT WAS LIKE FOR YOU?

"It's probably the memory that will stay with me the longest. When I think of Paris Saint-Germain, I think of coming here and winning this title, the league title for the first time in the club's history. It's true that it's something that makes me very proud, to have been part of the team that achieved that great goal. It's a memory I'll never forget."

YOU THEN CELEBRATED THE TROPHY WITH THE FANS AT THE PARC DES PRINCES. WERE YOU AWARE AT THE TIME THAT YOU HAD MADE HISTORY IN THE CLUB'S WOMEN'S SECTION?

"Yes, I was. It was a big objective for us, even before I arrived, but also during this season. We knew that this time we were really, really close. And when we reached that goal, it was a great moment for me personally, for the team, but also for the whole club and especially for the fans who supported us. I think that the fans represent Paris Saint-Germain very well. I don't think there are many other clubs, especially in women's football, that have such a strong community of supporters. And I think the fans mean a lot to the club, obviously for the first team, but also for the women."

THE FOLLOWING SEASON, YOU WERE AN IMPORTANT PART OF THE TEAM IN THE WOMEN'S CHAMPIONS LEAGUE, SCORING FOUR TIMES, INCLUDING THE FAMOUS GOALTHAT SAW YOU QUALIFY FOR THE SEMI-FINALS AGAINST BAYERN MUNICH. HOW DID YOU FEEL ABOUT THAT MOMENT?

"Scoring in a Champions League match, in a match as big and important as the one against Bayern Munich? I scored at the Parc des Princes in front of so many people. I'd say it was probably one of the most important goals of my career. So it was a great, great moment for me. And it was special because I was able to help the team qualify for the next round."

ANOTHER HIGHLIGHT OF THE SEASON WAS WINNING THE COUPE DE FRANCE, AFTER ELIMINATING MONTPELLIER, FLEURY AND LYON. TELL US ABOUT YOUR MEMORIES...

"It was my second title with Paris, and it was a special one because it was my first in the Coupe de France. I think that's why you train every day. You work hard to achieve these kinds of goals and win trophies with your team-mates. It's a very special memory, and I'm about to leave the club having won the league and cup, so I feel proud."

AS YOU SAID, AFTER ALMOST FOUR SEASONS AT PARIS, YOU'RE GETTING READY TO LEAVE THE CLUB FOR A NEW CHALLENGE. HOW DO YOU FEEL TODAY?

"I think it's emotional, I have a lot of feelings inside me. Obviously, I'm excited at the idea of taking on a new challenge, but I'm also a little sad. Because I'm leaving a club where I felt very comfortable, where I felt very good, where I felt at home for almost four years. I have great memories here. It's such a well-structured club with great supporters. I think Paris will always be my home in a way, even if it's time for me to take on a new challenge."

WHAT MEMORIES WILL YOU HAVE OF THE CLUB AND THE CITY?

"I'll have some great memories, that's for sure. As I've already said, the titles we've won together, the fans who are special... and the city, Paris is obviously a very special city. So I'll always want to come back here, that's for sure."

IF YOU HAD ONE LAST WORD TO SAY TO THE FANS, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

"I want to thank you for these four years. It's been very special to be able to play for this club and to have such great supporters cheering us on and supporting us. I wish the club all the best for the future, hoping to achieve other great goals. And I hope the fans will always stand by the team, whatever happens."
