Paris through to the WCL quarter finals

Paris Saint-Germain accepts UEFA's decision after the Women's Champions League round of 16 return leg against Sparta Prague's cancellation.

This Friday UEFA ethics and disciplinary committee announced a forfeit and a 3-0 defeat for the Rouge et Bleu.

Paris Saint-Germain are delighted with the women's team's qualification for the quarter final of the European competition having won 5-0 in the first leg. Despite that the Club is disappointed that the qualification couldn't celebrate it on the pitch and would like to reiterate the context that led to the game being cancelled.

Paris Saint-Germain would like to say that the women's team were fully able to play both games against Sparta Praha on the dates that were originally announced (first leg on Wednesday March 3 2021 in Chomutov, and the return leg on Wednesday March 10 2021 at Saint-Germain-en-Laye).  With the discovery of multiple positive SARS-CoV-2 cases within the Czech squad before the first leg the game was postponed and legs were swapped. With the return leg being set for March 17 in Prague, a game that Paris Saint-Germain adapted to.

After that the return leg wasn't able to be played because of the tests done on Thursday March 11 that revealed three players and a member of the Parisian staff had tested positive for SARS-CoV-2. These results led to the entire side having to quarantine for seven days from Friday March 12 upon recommendation from the. Regional Health Agency of Ile-de-France.

Paris Saint-Germain would have liked to have had the opportunity to qualify by facing their opponents in the return leg and have the level of flexibility that was offered to our opponents. Unfortunately the schedule and UEFA's rulings didn't enable us to do so and led to the decision that was taken.
