Paris Saint-Germain Women ready for Swedish challenge

Paris Saint-Germain take on Linkoping in the first leg of the UEFA Women's Champions League last-16 tie on Wednesday at 18:30 CET. It's another huge test for Olivier Echouafni's side who are looking to continue an excellent start to the campaign...

Winners over Metz last Sunday in the Women's D1, Les Rouge et Bleu continued their unbeaten run in the French league and head into their Champions League last-16 tie full of confidence, against a Linkoping side who are regulars on the continental scene: "They are one of the top 15 sides in Europe, and they are regulars in the Champions League" declared Olivier Echouafni. "Last season they were eliminated by Manchester City in the quarter-finals and that shows the quality we'll be up against."

Emma Berglund, back on the pitch after a long injury lay-off, knows the Swedish championship well and the Linkoping side: "It's a special occasion for me to take on a Swedish side in the Champions League. It's always a pleasure to return to my homeland. Linkoping are a very good side who have played a leading role in the development of women's football in Sweden. We expect them to be very motivated to get a good result against us at home."

Kick-off is at 18:30 in the Arena Linkoping, where Olivier Echouafni and his team will be looking to get a solid away result ahead of the return leg in Paris on 31 October.
