Review of the international break

Eighteen players from the Paris Saint-Germain's women's team rejoined their respective national teams during the international break. Round-up.

CONSTANCE PICAUD / ELISA DE ALMEIDA / SAKINA KARCHAOUI / THINIBA SAMOURA / GRACE GEYORO / SANDY BALTIMORE / MARIE-antoinette katoto - FRANCE

There was qualification for a first international final for the French women's team of Constance Picaud, Elisa De Almeida, Sakina Karchaoui, Thiniba Samoura, Grace Geyoro, Sandy Baltimore and Marie Antoinette Katoto! By beating Germany 2-1 in Friday's semi-final at the OL Stadium in Décines-Charpieu - thanks in no small part to a penalty awarded for a foul on Katoto and converted by Karchaoui - Les Bleues booked their place in the final round of the UEFA Women's Nations League. However, Hervé Renard's side went on to lose 2-0 in the final to reigning world champions Spain five days later at La Cartuja in Seville. De Almeida, Karchaoui and Geyoro played both matches in their entirety, while Katoto, who also started twice, gave up her place on the hour mark against La Roja. Baltimore came on against the DFB-Frauenteam.

JACKIE GROENEN / LIEKE MARTENS - PAYS-BAS

The Dutch women's team of Rouge et Bleus Jackie Groenen and Lieke Martens also took part in the Nations League finals during the international break. Facing Spain in the semi-finals in Seville on Friday, the Oranje Leeuwinnen lost 3-0, before falling 2-0 to Germany in the match for third place in the competition - which qualifies for the Women's Olympic Football Tournament in Paris 2024 - five days later at the Abe Lenstra Stadion in Heerenveen. Groenen played the entirety of both matches, while Martens, who was also in the starting line-up on two occasions, was substituted late on against the Germans.

AMALIE VANGSGAARD - DANEMARK

A friendly against Austria in Spain was on the agenda for Paris Saint-Germain striker Amalie Vangsgaard's Danish women's team in the international break. The two nations played out a 1-1 draw at the Marbella Football Center in San Pedro de Alcantara on Wednesday, a game in which the Parisian, who had started, gave up her place late on.

RAMONA BACHMANN - SUISSE

Paris Saint-Germain striker Ramona Bachmann's Swiss women's team also headed to Spain and San Pedro de Alcantara during the international break, taking part in a friendly double-header with the Poland of her club team-mates Katarzyna Kiedrzynek and Oliwia Szperkowska. The Nati won the first leg 4-0 on Friday, before losing 1-0 to the Bialo-Czerwonis four days later. Both matches were played in their entirety by the Parisian, who provided an assist for Switzerland's third goal in the first match.

KATARZYNA KIEDRZYNEK / OLIWIA SZPERKOWSKA - POLOGNE

A double-header against Switzerland at the Marbella Football Center was on the menu for the Polish women's team of Paris Saint-Germain goalkeepers Katarzyna Kiedrzynek and Oliwia Szperkowska during this international break. The former played the entire first match, while the latter remained on the substitutes' bench.

CLARE HUNT - AUSTRALIE

Clare Hunt's Australian women's team is heading for France! By winning 3-0 on Saturday at Tashkent's Milliy Stadium and 10-0 four days later at Melbourne's Marvel Stadium against Uzbekistan in Round 3 of the qualification phase (Asia zone) for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the Matildas have booked their ticket for the Games. The Parisian played the entirety of both matches.

KORBIN ALBERT - ÉTATS-UNIS

Korbin Albert's United States women's team, the only one of the nations listed above still in action, is currently competing in the Concacaf W Gold Cup 2024 on home soil. The North Americans qualified for the quarter-finals of the competition after two 5-0 wins, over the Dominican Republic on Tuesday and 4-0 over Argentina on Friday, and despite a 2-0 defeat by Mexico on Wednesday. These three matches were played at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, and the USA finished second in Group A, one place behind El Tri. The Parisian made her first start for the Stars and Stripes in the first match, played the first half of the second and came on as a substitute in the third. In the next round, Twila Kilgore's side face Colombia at 17:15 on Sunday at the BMO Stadium in Los Angeles in a bid to reach the last four of the tournament.

JADE LE GUILLY / LAURINA FAZER / MANSSITA TRAORÉ - FRANCE U23

Jade Le Guilly, Laurina Fazer and Manssita Traoré's France U23 team had a friendly against Belgium on the menu during the international break, playing out a 1-1 draw at the CNF Clairefontaine on Friday. Le Guilly and Fazer played the entire match, with the second wearing the captain's armband. Traoré came on as a late substitute.
