Olivier Echouafni : 'A really big game'

On the eve of the first leg of the UEFA Women's Champions League quarter final against Lyon this Wednesday March 24 at 18:00 at the Parc des Princes, the Paris Saint-Germain women's team manager spoke to PSG TV and the rest of the media. Take a look at what he had to say.

State of mind

"I see that the players are really focused and determined. It's normal because we've got a big game against one of the best teams in the world in a Champions League quarter final. It's true that we had to adapt and we did so even if it wasn't easy. But I can see in training that the players are really motivated."

UEFA WOMEN'S CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

« The Champions League is an exceptional competition to play in with a great excitement around these games. Playing the first leg at the Parc des Princes and the second leg at the Groupama Stadium, in these conditions is absolutely brilliant for the girls. In this competition it's so intense. We'll see two great teams and high level squads and details could decide the game."

LYON

« We know it won't be easy. We're playing a real giant in Lyon with the wealth of experience they have and the titles they have won... It's a shame we're playing against them in the quarter finals I would have preferred it to be the final. We'll need to be focused and together. The first game in the league that was played at the Parc des Princes, enabled the players to gain confidence because of the performance. It was four months ago though and they've improved collectively since then. We're going into the game with more confidence and calmness. My players are capable of good things and we'll need to do it over a long period of time."

DÉTERMINATION

"Our job is to push the squad to a high level. I think that we're more mature and experienced le groupe vers un niveau élevé est notre travail. But now we need to be capable to do over a longer period and that's harder. The league game boosted our confidence and was a real turning point. We're back at the Parc des Princes which is our lucky charm. Playing there is always big. It's a shame there are no fans though and we'll miss them a lot. It's a real challenge to face the defending European champions. We're going to try our best to be able to get a good result."
