Oh so cruel…

Despite their 2-1 home win over Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain have been eliminated from the UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-finals.

After an even opening ten minutes, Paris Saint-Germain took control of the game and enjoyed both possession and territorial dominance. On the quarter-hour, Périsset won a free-kick on the corner of the penalty box and Wang's free-kick flew tantalisingly across the face of goal without getting a touch before being cleared. In the 23rd minute, Ashley Lawrence broke down the left and crossed for Katoto whose glancing header failed to hit the target. Ten minutes later, Diani broke into the box, but dragged her shot wide of the near post, as it was scoreless at the break.

The second half was barely underway when Lawrence got in behind the defence down the left wing and crossed for Diani to poke home the opening goal (1-0, 47').
Paris then doubled their advantage when Wang's corner was bundled into her own net by Chelsea 'keeper Berger (2-0, 55'). It was all-square on aggreagte and heading to extra-time when Mjelde popped up at the back post to fire Chelsea into the semi-finals with their only chance of the match (2-1, 91'). A cruel finish to Paris' European ambitions for this season.
