Les Parisiennes edge out Guingamp

The Paris Saint-Germain Women's team beat EA Guingamp 1-0 on Saturday 26 November at the Stade Georges Lefèvre in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, on Matchday 9 of D1.

Just three days after their impressive victory over K.F.F Vllaznia in the UEFA Women's Champions League at the Stade Jean Bouin (5-0), Les Parisiennes were back in action on Saturday. This time, it was in the Yvelines, for the visit of Guingamp, currently bottom of D1 with one point from 8 matches. For the encounter, Gérard Prêcheur made three changes to his starting eleven, with Magnaba Folquet, Lieke Martens and Kadidiatou Diani replacing Grace Geyoro, Ramona Bachmann and Jackie Groenen.

After a first 30 minutes where they looked to observe their opponents, Les Rouge et Bleu were able to make the difference. Oriane Jean-François won the ball back from the feet of Emmy Jezequel and found Diani on the penalty spot. The forward made no mistake and hit the back of the net with a right-footed effort (1-0, 30'). After the break, the club from the capital put pressure on the EAG goal, but Bachmann just missed the target (55') then saw Cindy Perrault deny her effort (59'). At the end of the match, Sarah Bouhaddi kept her side's lead when she dealt with Aïssatou Troaré's header (86') and then came out on top in a one-on-one with Laurie Teinturier (88').

A victory that allows Les Parisiennes to provisionally take top spot in D1 with 23 points (7 wins, 2 draws) and a one point lead over Olympique Lyonnais, who will travel on Sunday to Paris FC on Sunday, who currently sit in third with 18 points on the board. Next up for Gérard Prêcheur and his side, a short trip to face PFC on Sunday 4 December at 2pm at the Stade Charléty for Matchday 10 of the league.
