Paris finish with a victory at Soyaux

The Paris Saint-Germain Women's team beat their ASJ Soyaux counterparts (0-3) on Saturday 27 at the Stade Léo-Lagrange, on Matchday 22 of D1 Arkema.

One week after their narrow defeat at the hands of Olympique Lyonnais at the Parc des Princes (0-1), Les Parisiennes were back in league action for the last time as they travelled to Soyaux. Les Rouge et Bleu were keen to end their season on a positive note by taking three points home from Charente. Gérard Prêcheur fielded a central defensive pairing of Marina Georgieva and Amanda Ilestedt, who was making her return to the side. In midfield, the youthful Korbin Albert-Laurina Fazer partnership took centre stage. Up front, Ramona Bachmann supported Amalie Vangsgaard, while Lieke Martens and Sandy Baltimore played on the wings.

In the early stages of the game, Les Parisiennes took control of the ball and immediately looked dangerous. But little by little, the home team, already relegated to D2 for next season, grew in confidence and tried to play closer to the Paris goal, with Laura Bourgouin in fine form. Facing a no-nonsense side, it was no easy task for Paris and the Franciliennes found it difficult to get close to Romane Munich's goal.

Just after the half-hour mark, the captain for the day Ashley Lawrence put her skills to good use, forcing the opposition goalkeeper to push her effort away for a corner. The club from the capital then upped their game, and Ramona Bachmann got the opener for the visitors. The Swiss international used her team-mate Amalie Vangsgaard to stand up the goalkeeper and beat her in quick succession (0-1, 36'). After a scare from Jessy Danielle Roux in the dying moments of the first half, Les Rouge et Bleu headed in at the break with a one-goal lead.

In the second half, Paris continued to dictate play but Soyaux were not about to let their heads drop. The team coached by Michel Bradaïa even gave the Paris Saint-Germain defence a scare when Ella Kaabachi hit Barbora Votikova's bar. But as the hour mark approached, Gérard Prêcheur's side gave themselves some breathing space with a second goal from Vangsgaard. The Danish striker took advantage of Sandy Baltimore's excellent pass to double the lead into an empty net (0-2, 59').

And as Les Parisiennes stepped up a gear, their opponents could only watch on. This was the case when Laurina Fazer burst into the Charente box, beat the goalkeeper and sent in a good cross that Baltimore finished with her left foot (0-3, 66')! The Sojaldiciennes tried to respond, through Stéphanie Gbogou, but it was not enough to reduce the deficit. At the end of a well-controlled match, Paris Saint-Germain ended the game with a 3-0 victory on their final outing of the season.

The club from the capital therefore end the season in second place in D1 Arkema with a total of 55 points in 22 matches and a total of 17 victories, 4 draws and 1 defeat. Some of Les Parisiennes will now have a few weeks off, while others can turn their attention to preparing for the Women's World Cup, which takes place from 20 July to 20 August in Australia and New Zealand.
