Les Parisiennes through to the quarter-finals!

The Paris Saint-Germain Women's came out 2-0 winners against Dijon FCO on Saturday 28 January at the Complexe Sportif du DFCO in Saint-Apollinaire, in the Round of 16 of the Coupe de France.

Eight days after the disappointment against FC Fleury 91 with a 4-4 draw at the Stade Robert Bobin in Bondouble, Les Parisiennes were back in action on Saturday with the objective of bouncing back against Les Dijonnaises, who currently sit in 9th place in D1. Les Rouge et Bleu travelled to Saint-Apollinaire for the Round of 16 of the Coupe de France. For the occasion,  Gérard Prêcheur made several changes to his starting eleven, with Oriane Jean-François featuring at centre back and Amandine Vangsgaard leading the attack, in what was Les Rouge et Bleu's latest signing's debut for the club.

Les Parisiennes started the match on the front foot, but Emily Burns turned Kheira Hamraoui half-volley over her bar (5') and parried Kadidiatou Diani's effort later on in the first half (30'). Before that, Grace Geyoro only just missed the target (12'), and Jackie Groenen did the same just minutes later direct from a corner (31'). At the other end of the pitch, Roselord Borgella saw Constance Picaud deal with her strike (28') before she struck wide (40').

Les Rouge et Bleu stepped it up a gear after the break, and quickly won a penalty after a foul from Cecilie Sandvej on Diani (48'). Diani stepped up herself from the spot and sent the Dijon keeper the wrong way (0-1, 48'). The club from the capital almost doubled their lead, but Groenen (50') and Manssita Traoré (75'), missed the target. The current holders put the game to bed at the very end of the encounter, when Marina Georgieva found Diani with a great ball. The France international lifted the ball over Burns, to make it a brace and end any hopes of a comeback for Dijon (0-2, 89').

A victory that sees Les Parisiennes secure their spot in the quarter-finals of the competition. They will find out their next opponents on Tuesday. After that, Paris Saint-Germain will switch their focus to their next challenge: Matchday 14 of D1 against Le Havre AC, who are currently in 8th place and who held Les Rouge et Bleu to a draw in the first match this season (2-2). The match will take place on Sunday 5 February at 12:45 at the Stade Georges Lefèvre in Saint-Germain-en-Laye.
