Les Parisiennes into the semi-finals!

Paris Saint-Germain's Women's team came out on top in a penalty shootout against FC Girondins de Bordeaux on Saturday 4 March, in the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France.

After their win at DFCO in the previous round, Les Parisiennes were back in Coupe de France action, this time at Girondins de Bordeaux with a spot in the semi-finals of the competition up for grabs. For the encounter, Gérard Prêcheur played captain Grace Geyoro at centre back, while Constance Picaud started in goal and the duo of Kheira Hamraoui-Jackie Groenen oversaw the midfield.

In front of the supporters at the Matmut Atlantique, the home side showed their intentions to attack on the counter from the very get-go, while Les Parisiennes wanted to play high up the pitch. The first real opportunity of the match fell for Lieke Martens, who was denied from a corner by the home goalkeeper.

Despite a second chance for Kheira Hamraoui, our Rouge et Bleu didn't manage to find the back of the net against a very compact Bordeaux defence. The two sides headed into the dressing room on level terms at the break, despite the club from the capital dominating proceedings.

In the second half, Les Rouge et Bleu continued to strengthen their control of the match. On the hour-mark, Ramona Bachmann came close to opening the scoring but the Bordeaux goalkeeper came out on top. A few moments later, it was Sandy Baltimore's turn to take her chance as she cut back into the middle, but Mylène Chavas dealt with the effort at the second time of asking. After that, the rhythm of the encounter dropped off until Amalie Vangsgaard came on to send shivers down the spines of the Bordeaux fans when her left-footed effort smashed against the bar!

That touch of luck continued to evade Gérard Prêcheur's side, and the two sides were unable to secure the victory in normal time. Kadidiatou Diani and her teammates therefore got going in a penalty shootout to decide the winner. Les Parisiennes scored all of their penalties, ensuring they secured their place in the semi-finals!
