Derby day for the Red and Blue

The Paris Saint-Germain women's team won 1-0 against their city rivals Paris FC on Sunday 4 December at the Stade Charléty, on Matchday 10 of D1.

Eight days after a narrow victory against EA Guingamp at the Stade Georges Lefèvre in Saint-Germain-en-Laye (1-0), the Parisians were back on the pitch this Sunday to begin a busy month of December, with no less than five matches in eighteen days. A short trip to the 13th arrondissement of Paris was on the menu for the Rouge et Bleu, with a derby against PFC, third in D1 with 18 points from 9 matches. Gérard Prêcheur made three changes to his starting eleven for the game, with Elisa De Almeida, Grace Geyoro and Jackie Groenen replacing Estelle Cascarino, Magnaba Folquet and Lieke Martens respectively.

The Red and Blue started the game on the front foot, with Chiamaka Nnadozie tipping Geyoro's shot over (21'). Ashley Lawrence's effort then hit the crossbar (25'), before Groenen also hit the upright with a lob (34'). The PFC goalkeeper was put to the test again with a header from Diani (40'). The Paris Saint-Germain players finally managed to break the deadlock after the break. After some good work on the right-hand side of the box, Kadidiatou Diani beat Eseosa Aigbogun and crossed for Sandy Baltimore to score (0-1, 55'). The scoreline was to remain unchanged, with Paris red and blue!

The win allows the Parisians to widen the gap on their opponents of the day, with 26 points (8 wins, 2 draws), 8 ahead of PFC.  They also get closer to Olympique Lyonnais, who lead the table with 2 more points, one week before the top of the table clash between the two teams on Sunday, December 11 at 9pm at the Stade Gérard Houllier for the 11th Matchday of D1. Before that, the Red and Blue will play the 4th Matchday of the UEFA Women's Champions League group stage against K.F.F Vllaznia, this Thursday 8 December at 18:45 at the Loro Boriçi Stadium in Shkodër.
