Match reports

Paris Saint-Germain's Women's team ran out convincing winners over Dijon FCO on Saturday 23 November, on Matchday 9 of the Arkema Première Ligue (6-1). A look back on the flamboyant victory!

A week after their victory at Reims (1-2), the Paris Saint-Germain Women's team returned to league action in the Arkema Première Ligue with an exciting match-up against DFCO, who sat 4th in the league table at kick-off. For this high-stakes clash, Fabrice Abriel fielded a central defensive pairing of Thiniba Samoura and Eva Gaetino in front of goalkeeper Mary Earps. French international Jade Le Guilly started at right-back, while young Tara Elimibi Gilbert took the spot on the opposite flank. In midfield, Korbin Albert supported captain Jackie Groenen, while Manssita Traoré and Sakina Karchaoui provided width on the wings. Up front, the attacking duo of Jennifer Echegini and Marie-Antoinette Katoto got the nod to start.

From the get go, Les Parisiennes showcased their offensive prowess on the PSG Campus pitch. After outpacing the Dijon defense, Jennifer Echegini deservedly opened the scoring for the club from the capital (1-0, 10'). The match began at a blistering pace, and her strike partner for the night, Marie-Antoinette Katoto, followed suit ten minutes later as she doubled the lead (2-0, 19'). Within just 20 minutes, Les Rouge et Bleu had taken control against the overwhelmed visitors. But the hosts weren’t about to ease up, as demonstrated by Korbin Albert, who forced Katriina Talaslahti into action to keep her team in the game (35').

The Finnish goalkeeper was ultimately beaten again moments later, as Jennifer Echegini scored her second goal to put Les Parisiennes firmly in control (3-0, 36'). The Nigerian international nearly completed a hat-trick, but her penalty was saved by the Dijon goalkeeper (45'). Just before half-time, it was Manssita Traoré who stepped up to further extend the lead, capping off a perfect first half for Paris with another goal (4-0, 45+2')!

The suspense was long gone in the second half, but that didn’t stop Fabrice Abriel’s players from continuing their relentless attacks on the opposing goal. Just before the hour mark, the hosts were rewarded for their dominance with a stunning long-range strike by Sakina Karchaoui (5-0, 57'). Unable to break through the Red and Blue defence on the ground, the visitors turned to aerial tactics and managed to narrow the gap with a header from Kate Taylor (5-1, 68'). However, this did little to trouble the hosts, who maintained their iron grip on the match and even added a final goal through young substitute Frøya Dorsin (6-1, 90')!

At the end of a one-sided match, the Paris Saint-Germain Women's team secured a dominant 6-1 victory over DFCO. This marks their 8th win in 9 Arkema Première Ligue matches, allowing Les Parisiennes to head into the international break with confidence. They will return to action on Saturday 7 December with an exciting derby against Paris FC at Stade Charléty. This highly anticipated clash, part of Matchday 10 of the league, is scheduled to kick off at 21:00.
