Les Parisiennes launch their high-speed chase

The Paris Saint-Germain Women's team beat EA Guingamp 1-0 in Brittany on Sunday 16 April. They are putting pressure on Les Lyonnaises, with one month until the league clash against Les Rhodaniennes, with the battle for the title almost certainly up for grabs.

Following the international break, a win was vital for Les Parisiennes who have lined up a breathtaking end to the season, with a final sprint in the league and the clash with Lyon, as well as the final of the Coupe de France which will be played on 13 May in Orléans, also against Lyon.

With four matches left to play, and three matches until the clash against Lyon, Les Parisiennes travelled to Brittany to face Guingamp, in a D1 classic. In order to ensure that the visit of Lyon in the league on Saturday 20 May remains decisive, Les Rouge et Bleu can afford to make no mistakes.

A first fright ran through the ranks of the club from the capital when Ashley Lawrence stayed down for several minutes, before finally retaking her place on the pitch. It was Les Parisiennes that set the rhythm for the encounter and created the best opportunities before finally finding the breakthrough after 30 minutes..

A risky back-pass from the home side found Grace Geyoro high up the pitch. She ran 25 metres before taking on and beating the goalkeeper with a right-footed effort from a tight angle (0-1, 30')

It was with a lot of abnegation that Les Rouge et Bleue approached the second half, to ensure they wouldn't be caught out and to at least, maintain their lead. That is exactly what they did, while they tried to kill the game off, but without success. The last few seconds were controlled, despite a last ditch attempt from the home side, which Karchaoui was equal to.

Gérard Prêcheur's side secured the three points, and put the pressure on Les Lyonnaises who are in action later in the day. While still awaiting the clash on 20 May, which looks like it will be incredibly decisive.
