Les Parisiennes fall to defeat in the final game of the season

In their final match of the campaign, Les Parisiennes fell to defeat at Reims (0-1). A look back on the match.

It was under the sunshine of the City of the Kings that the Paris Saint-Germain Women's team brought their long and excellent season to a close on Wednesday evening. Against a Reims side sitting in 7th place in D1 Arkema, it was a reworked starting eleven that headed out for the encounter. Bernard Mendy made some innovative choices which benefitted the youngest members of the squad. Constance Picaud made her first D1 start in between the Rouge et Bleu sticks, while Baltimore - Huitema and Hurtre made up the Paris attack.

Despite the new-look nature of the line-up, the club from the capital only took a minute to create their first chance in the box. But the first clear-cut chance of the game fell to the home side. Caught out by the pace of Kessya Bussy, the Paris Saint-Germain defence were troubled but managed to clear the ball away for a corner (5').

Les Rouge et Bleu tried their own luck through Jordyn Huitema, who saw her strike dealt with by the goalkeeper (8'). Parisiennes and RĂ©moises never stopped attacking but couldn't find the back of the net. In the final seconds of the first half, the home side found the opener through Dumornay, who found the back of the net after some incredible skill in the box (1-0, 45+2').

After the break, the encounter remained relatively balanced. With the lead in their hands, Reims came close to doubling the score through Kessya Bussy (62'), but her effort was caught by Constance Picaud. The club from the capital came close to an equaliser at the end of the encounter, but without success. Les Franciliennes end the season with a defeat, but with another Coupe de France added to their trophy cabinet!
