Les Parisiennes beaten by the Blues

In their first outing of this year's Women's Champions League group stage, Les Parisiennes were beaten 1-0 by Chelsea at the Stade Jean Bouin on Thursday 20 October 2022.

In a battle at the top of European football, Les Parisiennes were looking to start in style and go out and steal three points against the other group favourites, the reigning champions of England.

Despite a well-managed performance, without creating too many chances, Gerard Prêcheur's side conceded shortly before the 30-minute mark, following a corner sent into the box by the Londoners. Millie Bright connected with the cross at the back post to score the only goal of the encounter (0-1, 27')

It took until the second half for Les Rouge et Bleu to find the target with their first effort of the match, when Diani tried her luck, but Berger dealt with it without too much of an issue (62'), and then denied Fazer (87'), who was extremely lively in midfield.

The presence of the club from the capital's supporters boosted their side, with the fans giving their all in the stands of the Stade Jean Bouin, but to no avail. The first match and a first defeat for Gerard Prêcheur's side who won't have time to dwell on the result, given that they travel to Madrid next week, after a weekend off from league action, as they look to bounce back and kick start their UEFA Women's Champions League group stage campaign.
