Jocelyn Prêcheur: 'Keep our foot on the gas'

The Paris Saint-Germain women's coach gave his thoughts ahead of this weekend's league game with AS Saint-Etienne.

Coach, the team is still unbeaten in 2024. How are you approaching this game?

"We're good, we're in a good spell, but we have seen that games can be difficult. We have to find the right balance between maintaining the confidence we have built, maintaining our momentum, and keeping our focus. We have to keep working well, because matches are tough, and we have to keep our foot on the gas if we want to keep this run going."

How have you worked on facing Saint-Etienne?

"We have kept working on our tactical set-up. We have analysed our opponents in order to keep our run going in the league, with a lot of rigour and application, as always. We know it's important to play well on Saturday given the run of matches we have over the next 15 days."

Tabitha Chawinga has just won the Player of the Month award. How do you feel about that?

"I'm very happy for her, though I'm not a big fan of individual trophies in a team sport. Having said that, there's a great sense of satisfaction, because we had three players nominated, which is a reward for the work we have done. It's fully deserved for Tabitha. She's expressing herself more and more on the pitch, she's pretty much fully settled in, you can feel she's enjoying it, and that has an impact on her performances. It's also our job to make sure the players feel good, and enjoy themselves on the pitch. For me, it's an important criteria in order for them to perform to the best of their ability in games."
