Jocelyn Prêcheur: 'It was a game of two halves'

Paris Saint-Germain women's team coach Jocelyn Prêcheur and midfielder Jackie Groenen spoke to PSG TV after the 2-1 loss to Olympique Lyonnais in the D1 Arkema final on Friday 17 May at OL Stadium.

"We lost this final in the first half. I'm sorry we didn't have the same kind of spirit and desire to push forward in the first half, the same kind of winning spirit that we showed in the second. I think we showed two sides of ourselves, even if there were some good passages of play in the first half as well, we were still outplayed for a good quarter of an hour. We were really struggling, we couldn't hold out and, in the end, that was that. Some of the players are young, they need to improve and they've made really good progress this year. Now we have to keep working and take them to the next level if we want to compete with Olympique Lyonnais."

"It's hard to take. I think back to the start of the game. I felt the team was playing well, we had a lot of the ball and then we conceded those two goals for no reason. They put a bit of pressure on us and from then it was hard, because you have to score two or three goals to win. We pushed hard in the second half. We had a lot of possession, but that's not necessarily enough to win games.

"We've had a good season with a UEFA Women's Champions League semi-final, a league final tonight and victory in the Coupe de France. But we wanted to win this final. We've made progress this season, we're a different team than the won that began the campaign. But we still need to improve more because it wasn’t enough tonight. We wanted to win, and it's a big disappointment."
