Jackie Groenen: "When you're at Paris, you want to win titles"
Paris Saint-Germain’s Dutch midfielder spoke about her side’s upcoming clash with Lyon in their second game of the D1 Arkema season at 21:00 CET on Sunday 1st October.
Jackie, HOW IS THE SQUAD APPROACHING THIS EARLY PART OF THE SEASON?
"When you're at Paris, you want to win titles. That's our sole aim. We're obviously going to try to be competitive, and I have a lot of confidence in that respect."
IN THE LEAGUE, THAT WILL INVOLVE NEGOTIATING A NEW FORMAT WITH THE INTRODUCTION OF THE PLAY-OFFS...
"Yes, it's different for me. I've never played in such a format before, so it's going to be very different, but it does mean that at the end of the season, there are going to be loads of big games following each other. So, I think the competition is going to benefit from it, but I've never experienced it before, so it's going to be a new system, a new type of playing, and I'm curious to see how it's going to go."
YOU'RE ABOUT TO WELCOME LYON TO THE parc des princes. IS THAT ALWAYS SPECIAL?
"Of course, it's beautiful to play in this stadium. It's really special, and we hope to do it more and more. When I get out here and I get onto the pitch, it's such a proud moment, and the fans in the stadium are amazing. I can honestly say I've never been in a stadium that has fans like this! So, it's always a good thing to be here, and it's always special."
AFTER THE trophée des championnes and the game away to bordeaux, it's another big early-season game...
"Every game is a big game! We approach them all in the same way and with the same aim, which is to win, so every game is important."
