Jackie Groenen: 'These matches are the reason that we play football'

Les Parisiennes face Real Madrid at the Parc des Princes on Friday 16 December on Matchday 5 of the UEFA Women's Champions League. Jackie Groenen spoke to PSG TV ahead of the encounter that will prove decisive for the rest of the competition.

Jackie, HOw is the squad feeling ahead OF TOMORROW'S MATCH?

"We picked up a very good result last Sunday at Lyon and we are all aware of how important tomorrow's match is. We can qualify if we win, so everyone is focused on that objective. Everybody is in good spirits. I think that the team is feeling really good."

How has the team been feeling on the pitch since the win over Paris fc?

"It's true that we have secured two very good results on the bounce, against Paris FC and then Olympique Lyonnais. Now, we know that another important game awaits us tomorrow, before going to face Chelsea next week. These matches are the reason that we play football. Tomorrow, we will have the opportunity to play in a superb stadium in a huge match. Everyone feels confident. The team feels good, so we are trying to make the most of this dynamic."

HOW DO YOU FEEL WITHIN THE SQUAD AND THE CLUB?  

"Personally, I feel really good here. The city and the club are magnificent, and I had wanted to come to Paris Saint-Germain for a long time. It's therefore a really great thing for me to be here. Honestly, I am very excited to be playing my first season here."
