Heading for the Last 16

The women's team kicked off 2019 in style, winning 8-0 to reach the Last 16 of the Coupe de France.

Those who arrived even just a little late for the tie against CPB Bréquigny would have missed the start of the fun: Ashley Lawrence's cross was finished off by Marie-Antoinette Katoto inside the first 60 seconds (1-0, 1'). Sandy Baltimore then raced onto a through ball to add a second with a delightful lob (2-0, 22') before Grace Geyoro tucked away number three from close range (3-0, 28'). A mistake by the Brequigny goalkeeper was punished mercilessly by Baltimore (4-0, 38') before a well-worked corner led to Wang Shuang crossing for Dudek to make it five just before the break (5-0, 45').

Katoto quickly turned provider after the restart, teeing up Kadidiatou Diani (6-0, 49') before adding her second of the game by pouncing on a rebound (7-0, 51'). Annahita Zamanian's long-range stunner rounded off a spectacular start to the year (8-0, 65'), and means the Rouge-et-Bleu can look ahead to the Last 16 on 27 January with optimism.
