Gérard Prêcheur: ‘We will rely on our own game’
Les Rouge et Bleu’s Women’s team’s coach spoke to the club’s media on the eve of the match against BK Häcken in the second round of the UEFA Women's Champions League qualifiers on Wednesday 28 September at the Hisingen Arena. Extracts.
“Three main feelings dominate my thinking. First of all, determination, because we have come here to qualify. There are only two options, it’s us or it’s them. It’s always something special and it’s what really makes this competition what it is. The second feeling is confidence, because we put in a very good performance in the first leg. The players really performed across various levels during the match. My third feeling is one of caution, because Häcken showed that they are a team that is capable of defending. Even though we scored two goals in the first leg, it was difficult. We will need to be careful because they are capable of scoring, they have been very effective in the league. Strength, determination and confidence, but equally caution in terms of the quality of the opposition. We will rely upon our own way of playing. We won’t go out onto the pitch to hold onto the lead, but we also won’t go all out to look to immediately score another goal. We will play our own game, taking advantage of every opportunity that is presented to us.”
