First win for Lieke Martens' Netherlands
Paris Saint-Germain's Lieke Martens' Dutch women's team beat their Portuguese counterparts 3-2 on Matchday 2 of the UEFA Women's Euro 2022 group stage.
After both teams finished their first group matches with a draw, Portugal and the Netherlands wanted to put on a good show for this second meeting at the summit of European football. And with no fewer than five goals scored in the match, the challenge was met!
After a hard-fought match, it was the Dutch who finally managed to snatch a precious victory, which put them in first place in Group C. The Seleção came back from 2-0 down to level it, but conceded the winner just after the hour-mark and couldn't come back.
Lieke Martenes' team-mates will now try to settle the tie at the top of Group C against Sweden's Amanda Ilestedt at 17:00 on Sunday.
