Match reports

At the end of an eventful evening, Les Parisiennes secured their spot in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Women's Champions League. Against Bayern in Munich, Les Rouge et Bleus managed to secure a draw, or rather fought hard to earn it, ultimately clinching the top spot in the group.

From tension to joy and suspense... All the emotions possible in the world of football were experienced. Sitting in the qualifying places at kick-off, Jocelyn PrĂȘcheur's players held their destiny in their own hands. With a win or a draw, the result of the match between Ajax and Roma in the other group encounter would be irrelevant. However, you only had to follow the way the match played out in the Netherlands to understand the outcome of this thrilling final day.

For the 80th European match in their history, the PSG's Women's team were treated to a classic encounter, against a team that had won at the Parc des Princes in the first leg, putting our Parisiennes in a challenging situation in the autumn. Nevertheless, the visitors set the tone for the clash, with the first shot coming from Sandy Baltimore, but it flew wide of the German goal (15').

The players from Bavaria eventually managed to open the scoring through Gwinn, as she headed the ball past Constance Picaud (1-0, 36'). At the same time in Amsterdam, the Romans took the lead, allowing Les Parisiennes to approach the remainder of the match with more serenity. However, the events that ensued were far from serene. On the contrary, a roller coaster of emotions was about to unfold.

Despite being dominated, Les Rouge et Bleu did not give up and managed to equalise against the run of play through Chawinga. From a corner, Picaud caught the ball and sent a missile to the Malawian forward, who took advantage of a defensive misunderstanding to beat the goalkeeper and finish into the empty net (1-1, 73'). It was a moment of relief, but only for two minutes, as Lohmann then connected with a cross from the right to retake the lead for the hosts (2-1, 75'). At the same time, the Romans went 2-1 down in Amsterdam. At that point, the players from the capital were facing elimination. However, with determination, courage, desire and strength, they managed to equalise once more, after Baltimore sent in a cross which Stanway diverted into her own net (2-2, 88').

Having regained the top spot, the visitors then just needed to hold on without experiencing a final turn of events. In the very last moments of injury time, the Bavarian players found the back of the net for a third time. However, reality quickly caught up with them, as the flag was raised to signal an offside in the build-up, bringing relief to the entire Rouge et Bleu family (90+6').

The end of the match, the end of the suspense, but the emotion will linger for a long time, given how crazy the encounter was in every aspect. Les Parisiennes will be present in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Women's Champions League, hoping to experience even more excitement!
