Ashley Lawrence: 'We did the job, I am proud'

Les Parisiennes and their coach spoke to PSGTV after Les Rouge et Bleu's victory over Real Madrid (2-1).

Gerard Prêcheur

"There's a lot of joy and satisfaction, because we went through a difficult period. We have had a very good December and we have been rewarded for it, be that the players and the staff. For the work that has been accomplished over the last five months. Finishing the year at the top of the league and qualifying for the quarter-finals, that's a very good performance and I am really very happy. There was a great atmosphere, it was a good match, both teams played attacking football and at half-time, I asked my players to continue in that way. Women's football needs to create even more passion, so we also need to offer technical, attacking football, and I think that was the case this evening, especially with the suspense at the end. It was difficult to live through, but it added a little extra spice to the encounter."

Ashley Lawrence

"Our objective was to get out of the group stage, and this evening, it was a very intense match of the very highest level. Real Madrid are a very strong team, but we did the job, I am proud, because even though it wasn't easy, we were able to win. Of course, it's always great to play at the Parc des Princes in this atmosphere. We always feel really good here with our supporters, and with the ultras here too, it gave us an added extra. Now we need to recover, even though we still have a one match to play."

Élisa De Almeida

"I think that this was the objective, to win, to secure qualification so that we can go to Chelsea in a calm manner. And that is what we did this evening. We have qualified, we will celebrate that. And then our focus will be on the match next week. I want to thank the supporters because this evening, I felt that we were playing as a team of 12, and that was our strength. We were a team and honestly, without them, we wouldn't have had as much courage across the pitch. So a big thank you!"

Kadidiatou Diani

"We knew that we absolutely needed to win this match if we wanted to qualify. This evening, we gave ourselves the means to do so and it paid off, so we are very happy. Overall, things have been good, the results are there and we have met our objectives. It's now down to us to keep this level up until the end of the season, because we are only half-way there."
