Ashley Lawrence : «Répéter les efforts»

Canada international Ashley Lawrence spoke to the media alongside her coach in the pre-match press conference ahead of Wednesday’s UEFA Women’s Champions League semi-final between Paris Saint-Germain and Lyon.

COVID
“It’s a very strange situation. The club has imposed very strict sanitary rules and we haven’t had any positive cases in the squad. That shows how careful we’ve been. But we haven’t forgotten that this is a competition, the Champions League, and we want to win it. Despite the conditions, we are fully focused.”

POSITION
“I’m used to playing in different positions. I play left or right-back, and that’s where I play with Canada. Since I’ve been with Paris, I’ve played several different positions, to learn new things, to progress. I know how to adapt my game to play with both feet. But I’m also surrounded by excellent players and overall, it works very well.”

SQUAD STRENGTHS
“We are a really tight-knit squad and we are mentally very strong. We are united and play as a team. You can see it on the pitch, we all work hard for each other. Both the starting XI and those on the bench can be match winners – that’s our real strength.”

LYON
“We weren’t far away from victory in the Coupe de France final. It’s up to us to stay focused on our football. We know how to create scoring chances and we’ve shown we are solid in defence as well. Now we need to back up again, and show we can take our chances in front of goal. It’s the little details that will make all the difference.”
