Al-Khelaifi: 'An historic day for our women's team!'

Paris Saint-Germain Chairman and CEO Nasser Al-Khelaifi congratulated the Women's team after Bernard Mendy's side defeated European champions Lyon to lift the Coupe de France on Thursday.

"I am very proud that our Women's team has won the first title since we arrived at the club. A lot of hard work has been rewarded tonight. The girls produced a superb, heroic match against Lyon, who everyone knows is the best women's team in the world, of recent years. This victory shows us that we are all on the right track to compete with the very best, both in France and internationally. Tonight we have again confirmed our ambition to succeed.
After the match I was able to congratulate Bernard Mendy, who helped the team with all his experience and knowledge of the game, as well as his love for Paris Saint-Germain. Well done to everyone involved with the Women's team, the directors, the coaching staff and our players. The conditions in Strasbourg were very difficult and players stood up to the challenge and brought such joy to our fans with their heroism! And finally, on this historic day for our Women's team, I would like to pay tribute to Laure Boulleau, who is retiring tonight after an illustrious career for both Paris Saint-Germain and the France national team."
