A round-up of our Parisian quarter-finalists at the World Cup
Eight Paris Saint-Germain players qualified for the quarter-finals of the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. Here's a look back at their performances.
LIEKE MARTENS / JACKIE GROENEN - netherlands
After beating South Africa in the Round of 16, Lieke Martens and Jackie Groenen's Netherlands faced Spain. Despite a tight match from start to finish, the Oranje lost 2-1 after extra time. Our two Parisians played the entire match, but their adventure ended in the quarter-finals.
CONSTANCE PICAUD / ELISA DE ALMEIDA / ESTELLE CASCARINO / SAKINA KARCHAOUI / GRACE GEYORO / LAURINA FAZER - FRANCE
The French team lost on penalties to hosts Australia (0-0, 7-6 on penalties). The Rouge et Bleu's Grace Geyoro and Sakina Karchaoui were in the starting line-up and scored their penalties in a breathtaking session against the Matildas. Elisa De Almeida also started, but came off in extra time. Constance Picaud, Estelle Cascarino and Laurina Fazer did not take part in this quarter-final. It is therefore at the same stage as in 2019 that Les Bleues leave the competition, on the brink of the semi-finals.
