Yann Genty: "Every team dreams of beating Paris'

Before Wednesday's Liqui Moly StarLigue Round 28 match against Toulouse, Yann Genty sat down for a chat.

How are you approaching the end of the season?

"The big turning point will be Toulouse and Saint-Raphaël. The Toulouse players didn't appreciate the two matches when we beat them in the Coupe de France and the Coupe de la Ligue. I think we will be expected to play there. Every team dreams of beating Paris."

Those two matches will be in venues where it's not easy to play...

"Definitely! But it's complicated in any arena... The difference between playing at the Stade Pierre de Coubertin and another team's arena is really massive. Opposing teams are at their best when they play at home."

There is also a final to play in the Coupe de France, at the Accor Hotel Arena ...

"It's a final at the Accor Hotel Arena, it's not just any old match. I know that I won't necessarily play a final at the Accor Hotel Arena ever again. I'm taking it all in like a child with stars in my eyes. The AccorHotel Arena is great, it's so beautiful. It's a legendary arena. They used to have the Tournoi de Bercy there, with the Barjots. When I won the Coupe de France there, it was fantastic. All the teams are here, from the amateur world to the professionals. We come last, everyone is waiting for our game."

Is it a dream match-up against Nantes?

"The match in Nantes in the championship was very tight, and the return match at Coubertin was the same... It's going to be a real show! They won the Coupe de la Ligue, and we're not going to let them have the Coupe de France too."

You are in your final weeks with the club. What do you make of your adventure in Paris?

"Last year I had a hard time. I wasn't at my best level. This year, I'm enjoying myself more. I've spent two great years in Paris, and I've experienced incredible things."

And then there's a great atmosphere in the squad too isn't there?

"Yeah, for sure. You play with the best players in the world and the guys are lovely. You laugh every day in training. It's a pleasure to travel with them. You know you're going to have a good time."
