Uwe Gensheimer: 'In attack, we didn't give an inch'

On Wednesday night, Paris Saint-Germain Handball kicked off their Velux EHF Champions League campaign away to Zaporozhye. An extremely solid performance from the whole team saw the Rouge et Bleus win it (29-35). Uwe Gensheimer, Nikola Karabatic and Raul Gonzalez talked about this first continental win of the season.

Raul Gonzalez (Paris Saint-Germain Handball coach):
"It's difficult to win away from home, but everyone played really well. Our opponents posed a lot of teams plenty of problems in pre-season and I'm sure they will win a lot of matches here. Our defence played very well and our attack functioned brilliantly, so I'm very happy with this first match."

Uwe Gensheimer (Paris Saint-Germain Handball left-winger):
"The first match in any competition is never easy, but we played well for the full 60 minutes. Their playing with seven outfielders caused us some problems, but in attack, we didn't give an inch and always managed to maintain a handy lead. This was a great way to start our Champions League campaign."

Nikola Karabatic (Paris Saint-Germain Handball playmaker):
"Starting off with a win, and away from home: that's what we wanted. And we did it in style, too. We defended well, as the coach asked us to. Even though Zaporozhye might seem the weaker side on paper, they are having a great start to the season after beating some big sides over the summer. It was far from a walk in the park, so we're very happy."
