Three Parisians crowned European champions!
After defeating Denmark 33-31 in the final of the competition, Luka and Nikola Karabatic, as well as Elohim Prandi, were crowned European champions with France in Cologne this evening.
Up against three-time world champions Denmark, France - including three Parisians - won their fourth European title by winning 33-31 in Cologne (Germany).
Ten years after their last continental title, Les Bleus are now the second-most successful nation in the competition with four titles, behind Sweden (5), whom they beat in the semi-final (34-30).
This is Nikola Karabatic's fourth European Championship title (2006, 2010, 2014, 2024) and his sixth continental medal, the France and Paris Saint-Germain Handball legend having won bronze in 2008 and 2018.
His brother and France captain, Luka Karabatic, won his second gold medal in this event, following on from the one he bagged in 2014.
For Elohim Prandi, this is his first international title with France. Paris Saint-Germain's number 71 scored four goals in the thrilling final.
Andreas Palicka is the fourth Parisian to have claimed a medal in this edition of the competition. The Rouge et Bleu goalkeeper claimed bronze earlier in the day, having helped Sweden to a 34-31 victory over Germany.
"I wish to congratulate Elohim Prandi, Luka et Nikola Karabatic, our three Parisian European handball champions. It has been fantastic to watch them contribute throughout the competition, and we are very proud of the decisive role they played in victories that will go down in the history of handball. This success for Les Bleus also means an 11th international gold medal for Nikola Karabatic, a true legend of world sport, whom we will be able to admire in the Rouge et Bleu jersey until the end of his career next summer."
Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, President of Paris Saint-Germain
"I'm so proud to see three Paris Saint-Germain players become European champions! Their performance and that of the entire French team is immense. Les Bleus dominated the continent's greatest nations to win this fourth European title for French handball."
Thierry Omeyer, General Manager of Paris Saint-Germain Handball.
