The sprint is on

On Friday evening, Paris Saint-Germain Handball was back in action after a two-week international break. On this occasion, they welcomed tough Limoges side to the Stade Pierre de Coubertin for a match made extra-special by the presence of former PSG 'keeper Yann Genty in the visitors' squad. The game was therefore not to be taken lightly, as Elohim Prandi reminded us before throw-off.

A few technical errors on each side peppered the beginning of the match and neither team managed to break away early (6': 3-2). The goalkeepers also make a good start and the nets didn't shake much (11': 6-4), while the Parisian defence was solid and provoked several turnovers. Meanwhile the attack took full advantage and started hitting the target to carve out a lead (13': 8-4).

Despite this strong phase, the capital club was not yet safe and it took several saves from Andreas Palicka to prevent the visitors from regaining some of their deficit (17': 9-6). Raul Gonzalez's men were now well into their game and the scoreboard reflected this clearly (22': 13-8). But Limoges 'keeper Denis Serdarevic was in fine form and kept his team in the game (24': 13-10). However, this was not enough to shake the Parisian juggernaut, who still had a handy lead at the break (30': 17-11).

The second half started as the first had ended, with goals and saves for Paris (34: 20-14). Luc Steins, in fine form, started to hit his straps in the second 30 minutes! Teeing up goals and scoring them too, he was at the heart of Paris' play as they eased further clear (38': 24-15). Andreas continued to shine, digging up some spectacular saves to bring Coubertin to its feet (43': 25-16).

With the clock ticking down, our team managed the match perfectly (50': 27-20). Limoges tried to come back into the game by stopping several of our attacks, but immediately came up against a great rear-guard and a still impassable Palicka at the other end of the court (55': 29-22). Five minutes later, Paris Saint-Germain Handball were confirmed as winners to kick off their sprint to January in the very best way!
