Spain get off to winning start

Viran Morros and Rodrigo Corrales both contributed to Spain's win over Latvia (33-22).

The reigning European champions were up against the Latvia side of future Parisian Dainis Kristopans (seven goals) last night in Trondheim, Norway.

Despite a tricky start to the game that saw them 3-0 down after seven minutes, Spain made up for lost ground, thanks in particular to Rodrigo Corrales' strong first-half showing (33% save rate), before making the break for the first time just before half-time (14-11).

In the second half, the Spanish managed to keep their lead, relying also on an iron defence that shut the Latvians out for 10 minutes.

It was a comfortable win, with Viran Morros even managing to score his first goal of the competition.

Tomorrow's game is a different story for the Parisian defender and his team-mates as they take on Germany, led by captain and former Parisian Uwe Gensheimer. Throw-off at 18:15 CET.
