Seven Parisians called up for EHF Euro 2024

With just a few days to go before the start of EHF Euro 2024, several national teams have announced the 20 players who will represent their country. Here's a look at which of Les Rouge et Bleu will be making the trip to Germany.

NIKOLA, LUKA AND ELOHIM WITH FRANCE

In preparation for EHF Euro 2024, France are currently playing in the French edition of the Golden League. Luka and Nikola Karabatic and Elohim Prandi are playing in this friendly tournament. Les Bleus defeated Tunisia on Thursday (34-26) and face Brazil in Nantes on Saturday. Coach Guillaume Gille will announce the final 20-man squad on the eve of the first match of the EHF Euro 2024 preliminary phase against Northern Macedonia (10 January, 18:00). France will then take on Switzerland (14 January, 18:00), before a showpiece clash with host nation Germany (16 January, 20:30).

LUC STEINS WITH THE NETHERLANDS

Luc Steins is the leader of a team that is beginning to make a name for itself. The Oranje have lofty ambitions and it's only logical that Steins should be called up. In preparation for the preliminary round of EHF Euro 2024, the Netherlands are also playing in a friendly tournament - the Danish edition of the Golden League. Having lost to Egypt (30-28), the Dutch are now preparing to take on hosts Denmark and Norway. These will provide a good test before heading to Germany, where they will take on Georgia (11 January, 18:00), Bosnia-Herzegovina (18:00) and Sweden (20:30) in the preliminary round.

KAMIL WITH POLAND

The capital club's top scorer in the first half of the current season (171 goals in all competitions), Kamil Syprzak will undoubtedly be one of Poland's major assets at Euro 2024. The pivot distinguished himself in a recent friendly match against Argentina, leading his side to victory (34-26) with a total of five goals. Kamil was captain in that match, demonstrating his leadership role in a side hoping to spring a surprise on the European stage.

Like many other national teams, Poland are currently playing a friendly tournament in preparation for the Euros. Kamil and his team were beaten 31-25 by hosts Spain, and will be looking to build their confidence against Serbia and Slovakia on 5 and 6 January. The Poles will then kick off their Euro campaign with a clash against Norway (11 January, 20:30), before facing Slovenia (13 January, 18:00) and the Faroe Islands (15 January, 18:00).

SWEDEN WITH ANDREAS

Andreas Palicka has made an imperious start to the season, and will be keeping goal for Sweden at the forthcoming UEFA EURO as they attempt to retain the European Championship title they won in 2022. The 37-year-old goalkeeper will be up against Luc Steins in the preliminary phase, as the Scandinavians have been drawn in the same group as the Netherlands. Georgia and Bosnia-Herzegovina complete Sweden's group. Before that, Andreas & Co will take on Japan in a friendly double-header on 5 and 7 January.

DOMINIK MATHÉ WITH HUNGARY

Dominik Mathé, who was called up for the international break in October, will logically be part of Hungary's trip to Germany. The right-back will play a final warm-up match against the Czech Republic on 5 January. The Magyars will then face Montenegro (12 January, 8.30pm), Serbia (14 January, 8.30pm) and Iceland (8.30pm) in the preliminary round, with the aim of qualifying for the main phase.
