Sander Sagosen: 'It will be incredible'

After sustaining an adductor injury earlier in the week, Sander Sagosen will not be able to take part in the Velux EHF Champions League match between Paris Saint-Germain Handball and his compatriots of Elverum Handball on Saturday afternoon. But the Norwegian international, who travelled to his native country with Les Rouge et Bleu despite being out of action, knows that this match, which will be played in front of more than 12,000 people at Håkons Hall, will be special.

Psg.fr: You won't be able to play against Elverum... Aren't you too disappointed?
Sander Sagosen: It's a shame... I would have liked to play in front of my family, girlfriend and friends... There will be more than 12,000 people present and some of them got tickets just to see me play with my team. But that's life when you're an athlete! The most important thing now is to recover and play well again.

Are you looking forward to seeing the atmosphere of this meeting?
It will be a great atmosphere, as there will be fans from both teams. I think it's going to be incredible. It will be an extraordinary game for both teams. Norway loves handball and it will be a good experience for both teams.

You have two wins from two games so far in the group stage. What do you think of the quality in the group?
It is very difficult! We know that Szeged, Barcelona, Flensburg and Paris all have the quality to finish among the top four places. But behind them, there are some very good teams, like Aalborg, Zagreb and Elverum. All matches are complicated in the Champions League.

This is your last season in Paris. How are you approaching it?
It's a little special... Everyone knows I'm going to leave, but I'm still a professional. Every day, I work for the club and the team. I play handball to win!

What is your objective?
Winning the Champions League! That's what the whole team wants. It is a tough competition and all the participants want to win it. But it would be a great way to leave the club: lifting that trophy.
