Preview: PSG Handball - Tremblay

On Wednesday night, Paris Saint-Germain Handball take on Tremblay in Lidl Starligue Round 10 action. It should be a tough test for Les Rouge et Bleu at the Stade Pierre de Coubertin against a side who have had a fine start to the season.

Great start

Under the threat of relegation for long stretches last season, Tremblay ended up finishing 11th in their promotion campaign, beating the drop by just two points. This season, however, the Paris-region outfit are doing much better. They have collected eight points before the half-way point of the season - that's just six fewer than they managed in the entire campaign last time around. In doing so, they have clocked a number of impressive performances, in eluding wins over Aix (30-29) and away to Toulouse (31-36). Last weekend, they battled through to a draw against reigning Velux EHF Champions League champions Montpellier.Un très bon départ

Top scorer: Erwan Siakam

Tremblay's strong start to the season has featured the excellent form of left-back Erwan Siakam, currently the top scorer in Benjamin Braux's squad with 40 goals from eight matches. The 31-year-old is on track to surpass his 78-goal personal best goal tally, set back in season 2012-13 with Dunkerque. This season, he has terrorised the back-lines of Chambéry, Aix, Nîmes (all six goals) and Toulouse (eight). Behind him on the club's scoring chart sit Montenegrin Vasko Seraljevic (37) and Portuguese right-winger Pedro Portela (34).

Back to Coubertin

At the other end of the court, we find TFHB captain Patrice Annonay. Since the opening day of the season, the 'keeper has made 54 saves, the 13-most of any keeper in the top flight. The 39-year-old is well known in the capital, having played fro Paris Saint-Germain Handball for 11 seasons between 2005 and 2016. He won't be the only old boy making his return to the Stade Pierre de Coubertin, however. When he left Paris for Tremblay, Papat was joined by France international Samuel Honrubia, the 32-year-old left-winger who bagged 226 goals in three seasons with the capital cub. Also, Henrik Olsson, the son of our club's former assistant coach Staffan, joined Tremblay from Stockholm in the summer.

Our key stats

After the win over Dunkerque on Saturday evening (23-27), Paris Saint-Germain Handball took a step towards the top spots. Indeed, although they still have a match in hand over leaders Nantes and Chambéry, Les Rouge et Bleu can move into pole position if they win their postponed clash with Montpellier on 9 December. Raul Gonzalez's men would pip the competition to top spot thanks to an league-high +54 goal difference. After eight rounds, Paris Saint-Germain Handball boast the Lidl Starligue's most prolific attack (261 goals scored) and its third-tightest defence (207 goals conceded).
