Preview: Five things about Veszprém - Paris

On Thursday Paris Saint-Germain Handball return to European action. On the opening day of the EHF Champions League group stage, they travel to Hungary to take on Veszprém.

1 - FOURTH COMPETITION

Raul Gonzalez's men returned to official action on 3 September, and this is the fourth competition they have taken part in so far this season. They have already played in the Trophée des Champions, a round of 16 in the Coupe de France and participated in the opening day of the Liqui Moly StarLigue last weekend in Nîmes (28-33).

2 - BACK TO EUROPE

Les Rouge et Bleu start their European adventure in Group A. Apart from Veszprém, they will meet other old acquaintances from the last few years, such as Porto, Plock, Dinamo Bucharest and Zagreb, and will participate in some first-time fixtures, against GOG and Magdeburg.

3 - PARIS FACING A CAULDRON

As was the case last season, the capital club starts its EHF Champions League campaign with a trip to the Veszprém Arena. This is a venue where it is always difficult to get a win, with 5,000 fans in full voice. This did not prevent the Parisians and Uwe Gensheimer from ending the Hungarian club's long-standing unbeaten run at home in 2016.

4 - THE HISTORY OF CONFRONTATIONS

This is the 15th meeting between Veszprém and Paris in the Champions League. Our team has won seven, drawn one and lost six. Among the historic victories, we remember the semi-final win in the 2017 Final4 (26-27) or the victory for the third place in 2020 (26-31).
