Preview: Five things about Paris - Sélestat
On Saturday evening, Paris Saint-Germain Handball return to Liqui Moly StarLigue action at the Stade Pierre de Coubertin, playing host to Sélestat in Round 2.
1 - BACK TO COUBERTIN!
The last meeting at the Stade Pierre de Coubertin was on 8 June. That was the last round of the 2021-2022 season, against Créteil (38-33), with the Liqui Moly StarLigue trophy lifted. Three months later, Les Rouge et Bleu are back in their home court!
2 - INITIAL RESULTS
For their return to the French handball elite, Sélestat came close to at the perfect start. Against visiting Dunkerque, the Alsatians were in the game for a long time (55': 26-26), before cracking in the final moments (28-29). Meanwhile, Raul Gonzalez's men started the season as they ended the last one: with a victory! They took two points home from Nîmes (28-33).
3 - RECENT MATCHES
The last double opposition between the two teams dates back to the 2016-2017 season. Our players won twice, first at Coubertin (38-25), with a 6 from 6 by Nikola Karabatic, then away (19-32).
4 - HEAD TO HEAD
This will be the 21st time that this fixture has been played in the Liqui Moly StarLigue. The Parisians are ahead in the historical record, with 12 wins, four draws and as many losses. The last one was on 31 March 2012 (36-29). Since then, Les Rouge et Bleu have won four consecutive matches and gone eight without defeat against Sélestat.
